A Pulse That Knows No Forgetting

About this book

Souad Diya El-Din explores the stubborn life of feeling after memory has supposedly closed its doors. The stories follow people who encounter an old voice, a familiar place, or an unexpected absence and discover that the heart has retained what the mind tried to bury. Love is not always restored, nor is loss easily resolved; the pulse of the title marks the persistence of connection through distance and time. Written with emotional economy, the collection attends to gestures and silences that reveal more than confession. Each narrative asks whether forgetting is truly possible, and what it costs to carry an unfinished relationship forward.
