In the Presence of Bashaba

About this book

The narrator of In the Presence of Bashaba believes misfortune announced his birth: lights failed, mirrors broke, and darkness entered with his first cry. Calling himself a messenger of death, he follows a trail of calamity that harms strangers and family alike. Amr Ali blurs reality and the supernatural as the character questions whether people shape their destinies or serve as figures in a cosmic drama. The mounting horror becomes a desperate attempt to cleanse an inherited curse before it reaches its final victim.
