Whispers of Time

About this book

In Whispers of Time, Hamid Zidouhi treats poetry as witness: a form capable of preserving the absent, confronting injustice, and resisting the silence imposed on difficult truths. Rooted in Moroccan experience yet open to a wider human horizon, the collection moves between the intimate life of the individual and the unsettled questions of national and pan-Arab identity. Its language can be tender, urgent, and openly defiant, pressing for freedom and dignity while returning repeatedly to love as an act of moral resistance. Palestine stands within this poetic landscape as an enduring emblem of dispossession, resilience, and hope. Rather than separating beauty from public responsibility, Zidouhi makes each answerable to the other. These poems invite readers to listen to what time leaves behind and to recognise how memory, compassion, and honest speech can challenge erasure.
