Life and work
About James Mooney
He began fieldwork with the Cherokee in 1887 and also studied the Kiowa and other Indigenous communities in North America. His publications include Myths of the Cherokee and a study of the Ghost Dance. His papers contain notes, drawings, maps and correspondence; his work should be approached with attention to its historical terminology and the communities whose traditions it records.
